The
World Tourism Organization (WTO) has headed the celebration of the World Tourism Day every September 27th since 1980. The day was set as a worldwide celebration with the purpose of raising awareness about tourism’s influence in a country’s economy, culture and social ambiance.
This year’s theme was “Tourism Responding to the Challenge of Climate Change and Global Warming”. Global Warming is one of the main challenges that modern society has to confront and due to tourism’s strong income worldwide, the WTO has stated that the industry can and must contribute to reduce global warming as well as poverty.
Tourism represents one of the few industries that embrace the economic and social development as well as being one of the main sources of income and jobs worldwide. In Costa Rica alone, the nation’s economy depends directly on tourism. Costa Rica receives an approximate 2 billion dollar income each year.
Costa Rica celebrated its XIV National Tourism Seminar which ended with the World Tourism Day. This seminar focused on programs that could guarantee a sustainable and responsible growth of the tourism industry in Costa Rica.
The Costa Rican Chamber of Tourism (CANATUR) called upon the tourism industry to join the worldwide celebration by including and implementing programs and activities that will reduce gas emissions as well as all activities that can reverse global warming.

Costa Rica has strongly positioned itself among the top destinations preferred by tourists from around the world, and aside from the tropical sun and exuberant vegetation, the attraction is also credited to the lodging industry.
The country’s hotel industry is made up of a myriad of architectural styles, sizes and shapes. Hotel owners have managed to reach out and stimulate every sensory receptor in the human body by combining exotic locations with imaginative structures and natural resources.
Words can only so much describe a subjective point of view while leaving out valuable and significant emotions each individual will experience on their own when staying at a hotel, be it for pleasure or for business.
An important number of Costa Rican hotels diligently take care of their daily operations in order to assure its customers the best experience they could ever receive. However, sometimes the hard work and thought that is put into the hotel does not translate as well when it comes to pictures used on the hotel’s website or brochures.
As a way of reaching out to both returning and new customers as well as heightening property exposure on the Web and other marketing methods, Hotel PURE offers the contact of a professional photographer who has made the lodging industry her specialty.
Hotel PURE encourages other hotel owners and managers to rely on the power of a photograph to reach out to customers. Noelia Badilla is a young professional photographer who has found her calling in capturing emotional-stirring photos of architectural structures, nature and people.
